The Institute for Energy Law (IEL) selected McGuireWoods partner Miles Indest as the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Young Energy Professional Award. The honor recognizes an energy professional under the age of 40 for exceptional achievements in the field. IEL presented the award to Indest at its National Young Energy Professionals Conference held April 2, 2025, in Las Vegas.

A member of McGuireWoods’ Commercial Litigation Department and Trade Secrets Practice Group, Indest represents energy and technology companies in disputes involving contracts, environmental matters, government investigations and trade secret theft.

Indest joined IEL’s Young Energy Professionals committee (YEP) in 2019 and recently was appointed YEP Secretary. As a YEP member, he participates in professional development initiatives, educational programs on oil and gas law, and industry trend discussions while building connections with energy sector leaders.

“I am honored to receive the 2025 IEL Outstanding Young Energy Professional Award and grateful for the support from my McGuireWoods colleagues,” Indest said. “I look forward to continuing to serve our clients and contribute to the industry’s progress.”

Indest frequently shares insights on emerging technology, artificial intelligence and trade secrets in articles, conferences, CLEs and webinars. In 2022, he was appointed chair of the Young Technology Professionals’ committee for the Center for American and International Law’s Institute for Law & Technology.

“Miles is a rising star who excels at helping companies protect and advance innovations, navigate complicated regulations, and resolve high-stakes disputes in the energy sector and other dynamic,” said Brian Kelly, co-chair of McGuireWoods’ energy industry team. “We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”
