Former U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly Priest Johnson addition as a partner to Shook Houston was recently covered in Law360, Texas Lawyer and Texas Lawbook. The publications highlighted her, the strategic importance of her addition to Shook, her time on the bench and what drew her to the firm.
“Shook is among the most active first-chair trial firms in the country,” Judge Johnson told Law360. “And I was drawn to the firm's reputation as a powerhouse defense firm.”
Her background of experience in the public and private sectors will help to expand Shook’s national litigation platform.
“With experience as both a former federal judge and assistant U.S. attorney, as well as a litigator in both complex commercial and patent litigation, I am looking to expand Shook's services to the firm’s health, science and technology clients in Texas and across the nation,” Judge Johnson told Law360. “I am also looking forward to helping expand the firm’s white collar and government investigations practice.”
During her time on the bench, Judge Johnson issued more than 1,300 opinions in civil matters and supervised a broad array of cases, including intellectual property matters and class actions. She also oversaw criminal cases investigated by agencies that include the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
She also previously served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the White-Collar Section of the Northern District of Texas’ Dallas Division, focusing on health care fraud.
