Another company claims it was unfairly appraised

A Jefferson County company is suing over claims its Beaumont property was excessively valued by the county appraisal district.

Cramer and Walker Investments Inc. filed a lawsuit Oct. 2 in Jefferson County District Court against the Jefferson County Appraisal District.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was notified July 10 that its Beaumont property had been valued by the defendant at $503,570, but the plaintiff filed a notice of protest along with comparable sales information, an inspection report showing physical and economic problems with the property, and an appraisal.

Cramer and Walker says the true fair market value of the property is $260,000 and the imposition of taxes at a higher valuation is an unlawful entry.

The plaintiff seeks a court order setting the true fair market value of the property, the correction of tax rolls, attorney fees and costs of court.

It is represented by attorney Eddie R. Schroeder of Beaumont.
