On April 3, 2025, Tonya Brent filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County against Starcon International Inc., Sathi LLC, and Flintco LLC. The lawsuit stems from an accident on April 1, 2025, where Cuevas was killed while working at a construction site managed by these companies.
The complaint alleges that Miguel Cuevas was working in an aerial lift near metal trusses when one collapsed and fatally injured him. According to the petition filed by Brent, the defendants failed to ensure a safe working environment, which directly led to Cuevas's death. "Defendants had ownership and/or control over the premises...and thus had a duty to exercise the degree of care that a company of ordinary prudence would use," states the complaint.
