Woman says she slipped in car dealership

A Jefferson County woman is suing over claims she was injured after slipping in the showroom of a car dealer.

Cheryl and Alvin Eldridge filed a lawsuit Oct. 1 in Jefferson County District Court against Southeast Texas Classic Automotive, Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the Eldridges were looking to purchase a new car at Classic Acura on Interstate Highway 10 N. in Beaumont on Nov. 29, 2013, when Cheryl Eldridge sat inside an Acura TSX on the north side of the showroom. She alleges that as she exited the car and walked toward the front, she slipped on a slippery substance and fell to the floor. The defendant is accused of premises liability and negligence in failing to maintain the premises or warn customers of the danger. Alvin Eldridge is suing for loss of consortium.

The Eldridges seek more than $200,000 in actual and exemplary damages, interest and costs of court.

They are represented by attorneys Mickey L. Washington of Washington and Associates in Houston, and Derrick G. Parker of D.G. Parker Law Firm in Houston.
