A Jefferson County and a Harris County man are suing over claims they were injured in a boating accident due to faulty steering.

Darren Perkins and Brian Scalise filed a lawsuit Oct. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Chris Domino, individually and doing business as Circle D Boats, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 11, Circle D Boats repaired or installed the steering mechanism of a boat in which Perkins and Scalise rode several days later in Taylor's Bayou. The plaintiffs say that on June 13, a boating accident was caused by the faulty and improper installation of the steering mechanism, and the plaintiffs sustained serious injuries to their backs, legs and bodies.

Domino, the owner of Circle D Boats, is accused of vicarious liability for his company's negligence in failing to properly install the boat's steering mechanism.

The plaintiffs seek damages including medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, interest and costs of court. They are represented by attorney Darren L. Brown of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
