A Canadian shipping company says Burleson-based Sadot Trading owes it $81,000.

Montreal-based Canfornav filed a motion to confirm a foreign arbitration award against Sadot on March 10 in the Texas Northern District Court.

Canfornav says the award filing-- granting it $59,184 in damages, $5,705 in interest, $6,188 in arbitration fees and $10,000 in legal fees, for a total of $81,077-- was made by the London Maritime Arbitrators Association last June.

It involves a dispute over a 20,000 metric ton cargo of bulk corn sent from Toledo, Ohio to Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Canfornav filing is the latest in a string against Sadot alleging the company owes money.

In December, Delaware-based Lombard Trading sued Sadot in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, alleging that the company breached an agreement regarding the September 2024 payment for 20,000 metric tons of soybean meal.

“This action arises from a wrongful scheme undertaken by Defendants Sadot Group to deprive Plaintiff Lombard of its property including $7,442,799.88 payment for the shipment of 20,000 metric tons of Soybean Meal,” the lawsuit reads.

Lombard claims the payment, due on Sept. 11, 2024, was never made, prompting Lombard to seek legal action

Sadot faces a separate lawsuit by Louisiana-based Zen-Noh Grain Corporation, filed in Rhode Island District Court last September.

It alleges Sadot owes Zen-Noh more than $8 million and that it diverted a Zen-Noh shipment of soybean meal from Argentina to Lebanon, instead to Syria.

Canfornav Inc. is “one of the leading international dry bulk carriers in the St. Lawrence/Great Lakes,” founded in 1976.

The company “carries approximately eight million tonnes of cargo (grain, agricultural products, fertilizers, steel, concentrates and more) and performs around 350 voyages annually,” according to its web site.

Canfornav is represented by Richard A. Branca of Royston Rayzor Vickery & Williams of Galveston and John Clay Lovell of New Orleans-based Galloway Johnson Tompkins Burr & Smith.

Founded in 1979, Zen-Noh Grain Corporation ships corn, milo and soybeans, primarily to Japan.

Lombard Trading trades food, livestock and animal feed. It is based in Delaware.

Sadot (NASDAQ: SDOT) had a market capitalization of $11.448 million as of March 7, 2025. The company reported cash on hand at the end of 2024 of $1.8 million and “net working capital” of $20.5 million. It reported total company debt of $7.4 million.

Sadot's largest shareholders are Moshe Aaron Bergman (11.51 percent of company) and Armistice Capital, LLC (7.02 percent of company).

Sadot Group was created in 2022 when publicly-traded Muscle Maker Inc. merged with Aggie FZ LLC, a "global supply chain consulting operation" based in Dubai, according to the company's web site.
