A woman is suing over claims she was injured on Interstate 10 in a collision with an underinsured motorist.

Hong Nguyen filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in Jefferson County District Court against Thomas Jensen, Central Hauling Company, The Traffic Service Bureau Inc. and Geico General Insurance Company, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Nguyen was driving on Interstate 10 on Nov. 25, 2013, when Jensen, driving in the scope of his employment with Central Hauling Company and The Traffic Service Bureau, struck her vehicle, causing serious injury to the plaintiff. Jensen is accused of negligence and negligence per se, and his employers are sued for negligent entrustment, hiring, retention and training.

Nguyen also says the defendant's insurance coverage was not adequate to compensate her, making her entitled to recover damages from her insurance provider, Geico, through which she had an insurance policy including uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage at the time of the collision.

Nguyen seeks more than $200,000 in damages, including interest and costs of court. She is represented by attorneys Paul "Chip" Ferguson and Cody Dishon of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.
