A Harris County man is seeking to prevent the demolition of a fire-damaged Beaumont home he owns.
Ako Jawara Nelson of Cypress filed a lawsuit Nov. 6, 2014, in Jefferson County District Court against the city of Beaumont.
According to the complaint, on April 15, 2014, a home on Youngstown Street in Beaumont, which Nelson inherited from his mother in 2013, was badly damaged by arson and is scheduled to be demolished. Nelson says it was recently determined he will receive insurance payments for necessary repairs.
Nelson seeks a restraining order preventing the city from demolishing the home. He is represented by attorney Sheigh Summerlin Rhodes of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont.
