A Galveston County woman sued a motorist, citing negligence in a traffic accident.
Tracy Gilchrist-Scott of League City filed a lawsuit Jan. 7 in Galveston County District Court against Carolyn J. Ivey of Texas City, alleging negligence in operating a motor vehicle.
According to the suit, on April 28, 2014, Gilchrist-Scott was in her car exiting a store parking lot driveway onto Interstate 45 when Ivey, whose vehicle was behind Gilchrist-Scott’s, collided with the plaintiff’s car. The defendant failed to keep a safe distance, maintain a proper lookout, apply brakes in a timely fashion or control her vehicle’s speed, the suit states.
The suit says Gilchrist-Scott suffered moderate bodily injuries, nervous shock, physical impairment and diminished capacity for earnings,
She seeks between $50,000 and $100,000 in compensation for medical care, damages for pain and suffering, attorney fees, expenses, and costs. She is represented by attorney Tom Gehring of Austin.
