Jerry Clements named Baylor Lawyer of the Year

One of f the top 50 most influential women lawyers was named the 2015 Baylor Lawyer of the Year.

On Tuesday, May 5, Jerry Clements, chair of the international firm Locke Lord, was selected by the Baylor Law Alumni Association Executive Committee to receive the award.

“Jerry does it all and has been recognized as a leading light in our profession,” said Brad Toben, dean of Baylor Law School. “She is one of the few ‘go to’ lawyers on everyone's list. She never fails to impress all whom she meets, both professionally and personally. And she gives to each person, regardless of circumstances, the full measure of her best efforts and service as a stand-out professional and as a caring person.”

Clements has practiced law for more than 30 years, forging a path for women lawyers, states a Baylor press release.

“I am humbled and honored to be counted among a group of such prestigious Baylor Lawyers of the Year,” Clements said. “To be the first woman makes it even more meaningful. Baylor Law School gave me a wonderful education, many dear friends and the opportunity to achieve things that this girl from Ft. Worth could never have imagined. For that, I am forever grateful and indebted.”

Clements specializes in commercial litigation, working as a litigator with clients in Fortune 500 companies.

The National Law Journal recognized her as one of the “Top 50 Most Influential Women Lawyers.”

Baylor University is a private Christian University and a nationally ranked research institution, characterized as having “high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
