Deposition sought in collision suit against Community Coffee

A Jefferson County man, who sued Community Coffee after a collision with one of its truck drivers, recently filed a notice to take the deposition of the truck driver.

As previously reported, James A. Bellot filed a lawsuit Oct. 17 in Jefferson County District Court against Community Coffee Company and Christopher M. Zimmerman, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Bellot was driving eastbound on 46th Street in Port Arthur on Jan. 28, 2013, when Zimmerman, who was driving a Community Coffee delivery truck, failed to yield right of way from a private drive and struck the plaintiff’s vehicle.

Court records show that on May 26 Bellot filed an amended notice of intention to take the deposition of Zimmerman.

The date of the deposition is set for June 2.

In his suit, Bellot says he sustained property damage to his car and bodily injury to his head, neck and back. Zimmerman and Community Coffee are accused of negligence and negligence per se.

Bellot seeks more than $200,000 in compensatory and exemplary damages, interest and attorney fees.

He is represented by attorneys Casey H. Hargroder and H. Scott Alexander of Kebodeaux, Hargroder & Alexander in Beaumont.
