Michael Clayton, president/CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas
The Better Business Bureau in Southeast Texas received three awards for outstanding achievement recently at the International Assembly of Better Business Bureaus held in Milwaukee, Wis. The three awards are added to six others received in recent years.
The BBB, serving the eight-counties of Southeast Texas, plus the Bolivar Peninsula, first was recognized for "Outstanding Achievement in Special Projects" and its program "Lunch N Learn," a semi-monthly professional develop training seminar. The project was sited as being an example to all 128 regional BBB offices of meeting the training needs of business in their service areas.
In addition, the Southeast Texas Better Business Bureau was recognized in both categories for "Outstanding Membership Enlistment" among BBB offices serving regions with 15,000 or less businesses. The BBB was recognized for the "largest number of membership enlistments" with 597 new member businesses over a 12 month period, exceeding its closest BBB by over 150. It was also recognized for "highest dollar volume" in the same category.
In addition, Bob Bates and Alice Hayes, two Business Relations Consultants with the southeast Texas BBB, were acknowledged as being in the "Top 20" among all BBB offices of all sizes throughout North America.
The three "outstanding bureau" awards were among less than two-dozen given to BBB offices across North America for specific areas of work during the last year. The International Assembly is an annual meeting of bureaus that serves the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and northern Mexico. The Council of Better Business Bureaus, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, gives the annual recognitions.
"We are pleased and honored by these three recognitions, especially in light of the fact that our BBB office serves one of the smaller geographical areas in the BBB system," said Michael Clayton, president/CEO of the Better Business Bureau in Southeast Texas.
"We are grateful to our qualifying members and our Board of Directors for their support and service to advance trust in the southeast Texas marketplace," he added.
