Congressman holds open house

U.S. Rep. Ted Poe,R-Texas02, held an open house for constituents and community leaders Feb. 21 at his Orleans Street offices in Beaumont.

The congressman held a town hall meeting on immigration at Lamar Institute of Technology on Feb. 20 and visited the U.S. Army Reserve Center to sign the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve on the morning of Feb. 21.

He also recently cosponsored the Military Freedom Act, pushed to stop the consolidation of air traffic at the Southeast Texas Regional Airport with air traffic control in Houston and urged the Department of Homeland Security to reevaluate the security needs of the Port of Beaumont.

Poe was first elected to represent Southeast Texas in 2004 and is currently unopposed for a third term.
