A Hardin County woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a Port Arthur doctor.

Nancy Letts filed the suit against Dr. Gloria Castro-Zappia on April 19 in Jefferson County District Court on behalf of Henry Lamar Singleton, her deceased son.

According to the plaintiff's original petition, on Aug. 22, 2005, Singleton was a patient at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital.

"The defendant, Gloria Castro-Zappia, M.D., failed to provide timely intervention and appropriate medical consultation, being a breach of the standard of care and negligence," the petition states.

The petition did not include information as to the circumstances of Singleton's death.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for pain and mental anguish, medical expenses, funeral expenses, loss of companionship, pecuniary loss and loss of inheritance.

Tony Malley of Moore Landry is representing the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to the 60th District Court of Judge Gary Sanderson.

Case No. B179-140
