U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison
U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) was awarded the Connie Mack Lifetime Achievement Award for her support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure was founded by Nancy G. Brinker in honor of her sister who died of breast cancer in 1982 in Dallas and has grown to become the world's largest network of breast cancer activists.
Hutchison introduced a resolution recognizing the 25th anniversary of the foundation.
"Susan G. Komen for the Cure has emerged as a global leader in the fight against breast cancer and this resolution commends the significant strides it has made for women world wide," Hutchison said. "Breast cancer affects not only those who suffer from it, but also their friends and loved ones. I am proud to join the millions of activists who are committed to this movement and finding a cure."
