A man who fell of a scaffold and injured his back is suing the company that invited him to its premise and the company who built the scaffold.
Corey Stone filed his lawsuit against PD Glycol and United Scaffolding, Inc. on May 3.
The suit says Stone, a boilermaker, was walking on the scaffold to remove a chainfall, when an untied board, "kicked up, causing him to fall on a valve and injure his back."
"Plaintiff sustained injuries as a result of the negligence of the defendants," the suit said, adding that PD Glycol and United should have known about the dangerous condition and warned him of the danger – failing to provide a safe work environment.
The suit says prior to the accident, Stone, 24, was a healthy male earning $22 an hour with a life expectancy of at least 61 years. He is suing for lost wages, past, present and future, which could possibly be millions of dollars.
He is also suing for physical pain and suffering in the past and future, mental anguish in the past and future, physical impairment in the past and future, and past and future medical expenses.
Stone is represented by the Beaumont law firm Clay Dugas & Associates. He is requesting a trial by jury.
The Beaumont PD Glycol Plant manufactures polyester fibers, plastic bottles, antifreeze, printing inks and fuel additives.
