Larry Garrison vs. Raymond and Debby Turner

Shortly after Hurricane Rita, Raymond and Debby Turner hired Larry Garrison to repair some property damage caused by a falling tree. While working in the Turner's backyard, Garrison stepped into a hole and injured his knee. The suit faults the Turners' with premise liability. "The condition of the premises posed an unreasonable risk of harm. The defendants' breached their duty of care by failing to make the condition safe and warn plaintiff."

Orange County Management vs. C.J. Furniture et al
PA -- Bill Richey, J -- Dennis Powell
Orange County Management purchased C.J. Furniture in February, but now says it would never have purchased the business had C.J. given accurate representations. OCM now wants the contract rescinded and compensation for its troubles. "Defendant is aware the business does not even generate sufficient revenue to make payments required under the promissory note," the suit said. "Further, the conduct of defendant was willful and malicious." OCM is asking for a judgment against the defendant to have the contract rescinded, an undisclosed sum for money lost and court costs.

Mabel Rost vs. Allstate Texas Lloyd's et al

Rost alleges Allstate owes her $101,000 in damages for wrongfully denying her claim following Hurricane Rita. Plaintiff is suing for expectancy, reliance, restitution damages, along with loss in value, loss of use, consequential losses and out of pocket losses. She is also suing for "punishment damages for defendants' ant-social conduct and intentional infliction of stress and misery on the aging plaintiff by wrongfully withholding benefits due to her under the insurance policy," the suit said.

The Patterson-UTI Drilling Co. vs. Cavalry Resources
PA -- Ray Whitman, J -- Buddy Hahn
Cavalry Resources hired the Patterson Company to perform work on two oil wells. Patterson says Cavalry has not fully paid for the work and is now seeking a judgement to recover almost $2 million. Patterson is suing for the un paid balance of the contract, accruing late charges and court costs.
