Entergy sues man for damaging lines with bulldozer

In recent weeks, Entergy has been sued numerous times. Perhaps weary of being bulldozed, the power company has filed a suit of its own.

On Feb. 23, 2006, Juventino Portillo drove his bulldozer over an Entergy guy wire, damaging two utility poles and causing power outages to surrounding customers in the process.

To recover its losses, Entergy Gulf States, Inc. filed suit against Portillo in the Jefferson County Court at Law No. 1 on Jan. 2, 2008.

According to Entergy's petition, Portillo ran over the guy wire at the intersection of Deer Run and Coachlite in the Peach Creek Forest subdivision in New Caney, Texas.

Entergy alleges Portillo was negligent for failing to keep a proper lookout and heed previous warnings by Entergy workers.

Entergy is suing for all actual and court costs.

The company is demanding a trial by jury and is represented by attorney Paul Scheurich.

Judge Alfred Gerson will preside over the case.
