This Just In: Recent civil filings in Jefferson County district courts

  • U.S. Money Reserve Inc. vs. Stephen Dominguez

    PA � Chris Portner, J � Gary Sanderson

    U.S. Money Reserve Inc. has filed a lawsuit and a request for an injunction against Stephen Dominguez, a former employee, who allegedly quit and made off with the coin company's trade secrets.

    If the case goes to trial, the "Plaintiff (will) seek a permanent injunction� which will permanently enjoin, prevent, and stop the Defendant from engaging in any activities that violates the terms of any Employment Agreement, and any other like or similar activities."

    U.S. Money Reserve is also suing for actual damages.

  • Paul Brown vs. The Daily Advertiser

    The Examiner's circulation director, Paul Brown, has filed a personal injury suit against The Daily Advertiser, claiming he injured his back while catching some newspapers that were falling of The Daily Advertiser's truck.

  • Jorge Altamirano vs. Rowan Companies

    Unless nature's call is too strong to snub, most people, for obvious reasons, avoid using porta-potties. In the case of Jorge Altamirano, his world was literally turned upside down after the porta-potty he was occupying was abruptly knocked over.

    Altamirano is suing Rowan Companies for failing to provide him with a safe place to work. The incident happened on April 23, 2007 while Altamirano was working as an electrician at Rowan's yard in Sabine Pass.

  • Filberto Espinoza vs. Rowan Companies

    Seaman Filberto Espinoza broke several bones in his body when he fell off a 25-foot ladder. He is blaming his employer, Rowan Companies, for the fall, claiming the drilling rig company failed to instruct his co-workers to hold the ladder while he worked. Espinoza filed a personal injury lawsuit against Rowan.

    Espinoza is suing for lost earnings, impairment, mental anguish and medical expenses.

  • Michael Richardson vs. Union Pacific Railroad Co.

    PA � Bristol Baxley, J � Donald Floyd

    Michael Richardson is suing Union Pacific Railroad Co. He claims that during his employment with the railroad company, UPR failed to provide him with a safe place to work � negligently exposing him to repetitive trauma.

    Richardson is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost earnings, impairment and disfigurement.
