  • Panagiotos Androkinos vs. Liberty Marine

PA Jeffery Raizner, J David Garner

Seaman Panagiotis "Panos" Andronikos of Sheridan, Ark., was working aboard the M/V Liberty Star in an enclosed engine room on March 13 when his superiors allegedly utilized the vessel's carbon dioxide fire suppression equipment.

Andronikos claims he was asphyxiated, and fell while attempting to escape the enclosed engine room. He says he was rendered unconscious, and remained without oxygen for an extended period of time until finally rescued. The case asserts Andronikos incurred severe injuries to various parts of his body as well as his mental state.

The Jones Act suit alleges Liberty committed acts of negligence and of maintaining an unsafe vessel.

The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $75,000 from Liberty Maritime Corporation for physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of income, physical impairment and disfigurement.

  • Jonathan Campbell vs. Girling Health Care Inc.

PA Tobias Cole, J John Ellisor

Jonathan Campbell blames an Austin-based health care company and one of its employees for exacerbating an existing injury he originally requested the latter to remedy.

According to a lawsuit, Campbell hurt his foot as a result of an undisclosed incident and sought the services of Girling Health Care Inc.

The medical facility Campbell visited here, however, did not properly tend to his needs. Because of the alleged negligence and failure to render appropriate care, Campbell claims his medical condition deteriorated and he suffered permanent injuries.

The medical worker assigned to Campbell, whom the suit identifies as Jane Doe Nurse, is listed as a defendant alongside Girling Health Care Inc.

Campbell seeks actual, punitive, and exemplary damages from Girling Health Care Inc. and the unnamed nurse.
