Jan. 20

  • Birder Thomas vs. Healthsouth Rehabilitation Center-Beaumont

    PA - Mitchell Toups, J - Gary Sanderson

    On Jan. 25 the plaintiff was admitted to HRCB following a stroke.

    The plaintiff claims he assessed as a fall risk, yet measures were not taken to prevent a fall he suffered on Jan. 26, 2007.

    The plaintiff is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Michael Boutte vs. Way Service LTD.

    PA - Tommy Yeates, J - Bob Wortham

    The plaintiff is suing his former employer for allegedly firing him over submitting a worker's comp claim made in May 2007.

    The plaintiff is seeking past and future lost wages.

  • Steve Parker vs. Michelle Conrad

    PA - Jonathan Juhan, J - Gary Sanderson

    On March 26, 2007, in Nederland, the defendant allegedly failed to stop at stop sign and slammed into the plaintiff, who was on his bicycle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Leon Parsons, Jr. vs. Pro Field Services Inc.

    PA - Adam Terrell, J - Bob Wortham

    On March 17, 2008, the plaintiff was working on the defendant's premises when he suffered an injury.

    The suit does not state how the incident occurred. The suit only states the defendant was negligent for failing to provide him with a safe workplace.

    He is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Vicki Brown vs. Jone Carruth

    PA - Jonathan Juhan, J - Milton Shuffield

    On March 14, 2007, the plaintiff was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Major Drive.

    When the vehicle stopped at a red light it was rear-ended by the defendant.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Jennifer Wonders vs. Karla and Joe Hoffpauir

    PA - Trent Devenzio, J - Donald Floyd

    On Jan. 25 the plaintiff was involved in an automobile collision with Karla.

    The suit does not state where or how the incident occurred.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • Jose Jiron vs. La Hacienda

    PA - Steven Barkley, J - Donald Floyd

    A Port Arthur man has filed suit against La Hacienda, alleging he was required to have surgery on his left knee after he slipped and fell while working at the restaurant.

    Jose Jiron was working in the kitchen at La Hacienda restaurant on April 26, 2007, and was exiting a cooler when he slipped and fell, injuring his left knee and lower back.

    Because of his fall, Jiron was forced to undergo a left partial medial meniscectemy and chondroplasty, the suit states.

  • Calvin White vs. Lindsay Bertrand and Janet Morris

    PA - James Lassiter, J - Bob Wortham

    On June 12, 2007, the plaintiff was driving in Port Arthur when defendant Bertrand ran a stop sign and struck his vehicle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost wages, medical expenses and impairment.

  • David Charbonnet vs. Grand Oil & Gas Inc. et al

    PA - Cory Itkin, J - Gary Sanderson

    A Louisiana seaman has filed suit against his employers, alleging he did not receive proper care for his illness while offshore.

    David Charbonnet filed a personal injury suit under the Jones Act against Grand Oil and Gas, Laredo Offshore Services and Laredo Offshore Constructors on Jan. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.

    According to the original complaint, Charbonnet was working as a seaman on the L/B Petite in March 2007 when he began to experience severe stomach pains. The vessel is a Class 150 Lift Boat owned by Laredo Offshore for work on offshore drilling rigs and platforms.

    Charbonnet says he complained of the pains and requested medical attention while the vessel was off the shore of Jefferson County, but did not receive proper care, the suit states.

    Charbonnet claims he was later diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.
    Because he was not treated in a timely or proper fashion, Charbonnet sustained physical pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint.
