Beaumont residents claim injuries caused by Memorial Hermann

Five Beaumont citizens claim they were injured because of negligence at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.

Cametria Andrus, a person identified only as K.A., Donald Tennant Jr., Lisa Cappel and a person identified only as D.T. do not state how they were injured in the lawsuit they filed Jan. 29 in Jefferson County District Court.

Andrus and K.A. allege they were hurt on Sept. 25, 2007, and Tennant, Cappel and D.T. allege their injury occurred on March 16, 2007.

Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital was negligent in its conduct and should have exercised ordinary care, the suit states.

Andrus, K.A., Tennant, Cappel and D.T. are seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which they may be entitled.

Barry C. Bennett of Eddins and Bennett Law Firm in Beaumont and Michael R. McGown of Benckenstein, Norvell and Nathan in Beaumont are representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield of the 136th District Court.
