A Harris County woman alleges she received neck, back and head injuries when a metal curtain fell on her while she was working at a grocery store.
Lauretta Fields says she was working at Larks Food Services on June 1, 2007, and was walking with a cart when partition posts collapsed, causing a metal curtain to fall on top of her.
Because of the incident, Fields incurred medical expenses, lost wages, experienced physical pain and mental anguish and suffered physical impairment, according to the complaint filed March 25 in Jefferson County District Court. She also says she suffered from disfigurement and loss of enjoyment of life.
According to the complaint, Fields' injuries were caused by the following acts or ommissions of Larks Foods:
Fields is seeking unspecified actual, compensatory and punitive damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.
Loren G. Klitsas and Jeanine E. Holoye of Klitsas and Vercher in Houston will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
