Woman sues over injuries after fall near ice machine

A Grayson County woman has filed suit against a Texas corporation, alleging she was injured after she slipped and fell on ice.

Elizabeth D. Thompson filed suit March 24 in Jefferson County District Court against Arks Hospitality.

Thompson says she was an invitee on the Arks Hospitality premises on Sept. 9 and was walking to the ice machine when she slipped and fell, causing injuries to her left shoulder and a detached retina.

In addition to her injuries, Thompson sustained physical pain, suffering and mental anguish, incurred medical costs and suffered physical impairment because of the defendants' negligence, the complaint says.

She also alleges she lost wages and experienced a loss of earning capacity.

Thompson is seeking unspecified actual damages, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jeffrey T. Roebuck of Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck and Adams in Beaumont will be representing her.

Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-627.
