New suits against insurance companies over hurricane claims filed in Jefferson County

.
A total of six suits regarding hurricane damage claims were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court during the week of April 6 through April 10.

The following claims relating to Hurricane Ike damage were filed:

  • Eric Blount of 4310 Ector St. in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. denied his claim for damages to his home caused when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Capitol denied his claim after assigning adjuster Robert Stewart to investigate, according to the complaint. Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-736.

  • Bridget Miller of 515 North 23rd St. in Beaumont alleges F.B. Taylor Insurance and Real Estate denied her claim for damages to her home when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. F.B. Taylor denied the claim, saying Miller did not have windstorm coverage. Miller contends that she paid for and was led to believe that she did have windstorm coverage. Miller is represented by E. Hart Green of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D183-725.

  • Michael and Priscella Seipel of 8018 Torrey Pines in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned IMS Catastrophe Services and adjusters Ronald Davis and Raymond Mills to investigate. The Seipels are represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston.   • Jo Ellen Wilridge of 3225 Sarah St. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to her home by Hurricane Ike. TWIA denied her claims after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned adjuster Daniel Woods to investigate, according to the complaint. Wilridge is represented by Michael R.   • Todd and Tanya Clemmons, owners of Akery-Laughlin at 3360 25th St. in Port Arthur, allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and structural damage to their business caused when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after assigning All-Tech Claims Management and adjuster Rhett Lee to investigate, according to the complaint. TWIA also hired engineering firm Sea and its employer Shawn Johnson to provide a falsified engineering report it used to deny the Clemmons' claim, the suit states. The Clemmons are represented by Janice P. Bradley of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain of Port Arthur. Jefferson County District Court case number: A183-740.

  • Patricia Cassimere Holman of 4295 Fonville in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Company denied her claim for damages to her home caused when Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Capitol denied the claim after assigning ICA Adjusters and adjuster Randy Yoder to investigate, according to the complaint. Holman is represented by Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont and by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D183-743.
