Woman claims dry cleaner's van struck her vehicle

A Jefferson County woman and her husband say the woman was injured in a rear-end collision while she was working.

Wyoming Newman and Michael Newman filed a lawsuit May 26 in Jefferson County District Court against Calder Cleaners and Bobby Carl Hurlburt.

The Newmans say Wyoming Newman was driving in the 200 block of 11th St. in Beaumont for Central Control on Oct. 16, 2007. At the same time, Hurlburt was driving a 1996 Dodge Ram van owned by Calder Cleaners when he rear-ended her, the complaint says.

Because of the accident, Wyoming Newman incurred medical costs, lost earnings and suffered past and future physical pain, mental anguish, physical impairment and physical disfigurement, according to the complaint.

Michael Newman claims he lost Wyoming Newman's society, consortium and household services and suffered mental anguish.

The Newmans are seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs, interest and other relief to which they may be entitled.

Paul F. Feguson Jr. of Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: E184-155.
