  • Angel Murphy et al vs. Texas Windstorm Insurance Association

    PA - Steve Mostyn, J - Milton Shuffield
    The plaintiff is suing the insurance company and several of its agents for denying at least a portion of the plaintiff's Hurricane Ike policy claim.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant is guilty of several Texas Insurance Code violations and of violating the DTPA.

    The plaintiff is suing for actual and consequential damages, plus attorney's fees.

  • Thomas Thompson vs. Roland Bieber

    PA - Joel Grossman, J - Gary Sanderson

    On March 18, 2008, the plaintiff was traveling on I-10 in Beaumont when he was in an automobile collision with the defendant.

    The suit does not state how the incident occurred.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Derrill Conley vs. A.O. Smith Corp.

    PA - Bryan Blevins, J - Milton Shuffield

    An asbestos suit naming 14 defendant companies has been filed by a man and his wife, alleging the man's asbestos-related disease was caused by company negligence.

    Derrill and Carolyn Conley claim Derrill Conley developed the disease during the course of his work as an instrument technician, systems craftsman and supervisor.

    A total of 14 defendant companies are named in the suit, including A.O. Smith Corp., A.W. Chesterton Co., Arvin Meritor Inc and CBS.

    The plaintiffs allege the defending companies failed to adequately warn Derrill Conley of the dangers of asbestos exposure.

    They claim the companies also negligently failed to test the products to determine hazards associated with them and failed to remove their products from the market.

    The plaintiffs allege the asbestos-related disease caused Derrill Conley to experience physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and physical impairment. In addition, Derrill Conley incurred medical costs, he and his wife claim in the lawsuit.

  • Deborah Corbin vs. Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. et al

    PA - Michael McGown, J - Bob Wortham

    The plaintiff, a Digitek user, is suing the pharmaceutical alleging she has suffered adverse medical affects while taking the drug.

    At the time she taking the drug, allegedly it contained twice the approval level of the active ingredient.

    The suit does not give details on the plaintiff's injuries. The plaintiff is suing for medical expenses and mental anguish.

  • Mark Dummond vs. Rowan Companies

    PA - Francis Spagnoletti, J - Bob Wortham

    On Nov. 17, 2008, the plaintiff was working for Cross Services at defendant's yard in Sabine when a crane operator crushed his fingers by dropping a gear into a gear box.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant negligently failed to provide him with a safe workplace and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Lawrence Hughes vs. Ronald James Taylor Jr.

    On Aug. 17, 2007, the plaintiff was driving on the Eastex freeway when the defendant rear-ended his vehicle.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

    The plaintiff was traveling on Highway 69 in Port Arthur when one of the corporate defendant's truck drivers made a U-turn and forced the defendant to swerve and fly into a ditch.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.
