Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of nine new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane-related damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court during the week of Aug. 17 through Aug. 21.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Fausto and Francisca Bueno of Gordon Road in Hamshire allege Consumers County Mutual Insurance Company improperly paid them for their claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to their home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. The Buenos are represented by Wyatt D. Snider, Jason M. Byrd and Justin G. Sanderson of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-682.

  • Todd Freeland of 204 Labrie Road in Beaumont alleges Consumers County Mutual Insurance Company did not fully compensate him for wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Co-defendant Venerable Managing General Agency issued Freeland his Consumers County policy. Freeland is represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing him.   • Nancy Herbert of 1130 Third St. in Nome alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, wind and structural damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied her claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Specialty Services Inc. and adjuster George Rountree to investigate. W. Shawn Staples of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and Michael R. Ramsey and Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her.   • Nashib Investments of Jefferson County alleges Y.K. Man, doing business as Y.K. Man Insurance Agency, failed to renew its policy with Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. As a result, after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, Nashib's claim for damages to its property were denied. Nashib will be represented by James Amaro and Zachary D. Norris of Amaro Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: A184-754.

  • Gwendolyn Noles of 660 E. Irby St. in Beaumont alleges Ranchers and Farmers Mutual Insurance minimized her claim for wind and burglary damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. John Pat Parsons and Cindy L. McLendon of the Lindsay Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her. Jefferson County District Court case number: E184-693.

  • Helen Thomas, doing business as Catrice Palace, of 875 Neches in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied her claim for roof, water, wind, contents and foundation damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied her claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Hamilton's Catastrophe Claim Service to investigate, according to the complaint. Thomas is represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A184-691.

  • UCB Realty of 7410 Phelan Blvd. in Beaumont alleges Lloyd's of London Syndicate and ICAT Managers denied its claim for roof, water, wind and structural damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Lloyd's and ICAT denied its claims after it assigned Boulder Claims and adjusters Cynthia Amzibel, Mark Lindoerfer and Thadd Britt to investigate. Michael R.   • James Veillon of 2257 62nd St. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Veillon is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County Circuit Court case number: A184-760.

  • Donna and Sheryll Whitely of 1619 E. 13th St. in Port Arthur allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, water, wind and foundation damages caused to their property. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned US Adjusting SE Inc., and adjusters David Ross and Lupe Ramirez to investigate, according to the complaint. Michael R.
