Sept. 15

  • Mamie Zenn Darren Brune and Kinder Morgan Inc.

    PA - Jonathan Juhan, J - Gary Sanderson

    On Oct. 9, 2007, the plaintiff was traveling on Major when the corporate defendant's employee rear-ended her.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • DSF Advanced Staffing vs. Advance Staffing & Training et al

    A company is alleging another Texas company is stealing its clientele by using a nearly identical name.

    DSF Advanced Staffing, doing business as Advanced Staffing Inc., filed a lawsuit Sept. 15 in Jefferson County District Court against Advance Staffing and Training Services, Fredericka J. Young and Jacqueline L. Franklin.

    In its lawsuit, DSF is asking the court to place an injunction on the defendants to prevent them from using a name that DSF claims is too similar to its own.

    "In this regard, Plaintiff would show that Defendants' use of this name is substantially similar to Plaintiff's lawful trade name, and causes substantial confusion and disruption in the marketplace, as well as irrevocable loss of goodwill and clients that belong to the Plaintiff," the suit states.

    "If this conduct continues unabated, Plaintiff will continue to suffer substantial injuries for which there can be no adequate, subsequent redress in a court of law."

    On Aug. 9, 2008, the plaintiff was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Highway 45 when he was rear-ended by the defendant after the vehicle was forced to slow down for traffic.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout and is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

    The plaintiff has filed a Jones act suit for injuries he received while serving on the defendant's vessel on Dec. 19, 2008.

    The plaintiff was repairing some equipment when he injured his knee.
    The suit does not state how.

    On Oct. 13, 2007, in Port Arthur, the plaintiff was riding his motorcycle on Canal street when he was injured due to a downed cable line owned by the defendant.

    The plaintiff is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and medical expenses, plus attorney's fees.

  • Willie Mae Denson et al vs. A.O. Smith Corp. et al

    The plaintiff is suing 7 defendants for allegedly conspiring to expose the late Elijah Denson Jr. to asbestos,despite actual knowledge of the dangers of asbestos.

    The plaintiff alleges the defendants conspired to inflict him with an asbestos illness.

    He is suing for exemplary damages.

    On March 4, 2008, while exiting a helicopter, the plaintiff tripped and fell while stepping onto the landing deck.

    The plaintiff claims the defendants failed to provide him with a safe work environment.

    The city of Beaumont is claiming that Entergy has been engaged in fradulent billing practices.

    After an inspection and audit, the city learned that they were being billed for lights that did not exist.

    The city is suing for economic and exemplary damages.

    On April 7 the plaintiff was rear-ended by the defendant while driving in Beaumont.
