Latest hurricane-related insurance suits filed in Jefferson County

A total of seven new lawsuits against insurance companies regarding hurricane damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Oct. 19-23, 2009.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Dwight and Jada Fobbs of 1933 Oak Ave. in Port Arthur allege National Lloyds Insurance Company denied their claim for roof, water, wind, contents, foundation and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. National Lloyds denied the claim after assigning American Summit Insurance Company and Compass Adjusting Services and adjusters Sylvia Villarreal, Ray Feight, Collie Boatright and Michael Vieregg to investigate. The Fobbs will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: A185-204.

  • Gaumnitz Inc., doing business as Regional Plaza of Port Arthur, alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has refused to pay all amounts he made in a claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after it hired Legacy Claims Services and adjuster Glen Garner to investigate. Gaumnitz will be represented by Riley L. Burnett Jr. and William W. Lundquist of Clark, Dean and Burnett in Houston and by Robert D. Green of Robert D. Green and Associates in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-144.

  • Morris and Juanita Moorehead of 3160 Corley in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, wind, water, foundation, structural and contents damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned US Adjusting and adjuster James Vander Heyden to investigate. The Mooreheads will be represented by Michael R. Ramsey of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E185-200.

  • Fred Owens of 5115 Lakeside Drive in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for roof, water, wind, contents, foundation and structural damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Legacy Claim Services and adjuster Shawn Lichtenthal to investigate. Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-201.

  • John and Carolyn Raven of 5920 Sunbird in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, wind, water, structural and contents damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren assigned Boyle International Claim Management Group and adjusters Mark Blank, Herman Johnson and Brian Burnette to investigate. The Ravens will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B185-202.

  • Renn Taylor of 4050 Dairy Ridge Drive in Beaumont alleges State Farm Lloyds denied his claim for roof, structural, water and wind damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Taylor will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston and by David P. Wilson and Matthew C. Matheny of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont.   • Edward and Lynda Thomas of 2290 W. Highland in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for roof, wind, water and structural damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. TWIA denied the claim after its Vice President of Claims Reggie Warren adjusted it. The Thomases will be represented by Gregory F. Cox of The Mostyn Law Firm in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B185-203.
