Houston attorney Steve Mostyn, who has filed hundreds of suits in Jefferson County against insurance companies over hurricane damage claims, has been named as president-elect of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.

At its annual board and membership meeting in Austin, the TTLA installed Dallas lawyer George "Tex" Quesada as its 2010 president.

President-Elect Mostyn graduated cum laude from the South Texas College of Law and has served on the TTLA Board of Directors since 2002.

He is a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the Insurance Law Committee of the State Bar of Texas and the College of the State Bar of Texas.

His practice, The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston, currently specializes in suing insurance companies to recover claims for damage from Hurricanes Rita, Humberto and Ike.

2010 TTLA President Quesada received his law degree from Baylor University School of Law and is the first TTLA member of Hispanic heritage to hold the position. He has served on the TTLA Board of Directors since 1996 and is the former president of the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association.

Quesada worked as a briefing attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas and has held positions on numerous State Bar committees including the Pattern Jury Charge Committee and the Local Grievance Committee.

Quesada is a partner in the Dallas law form of Sommerman & Quesada, and is also licensed to practice in New Mexico.

The Texas Trial Lawyers Association was founded in 1949 and is a professional association comprised exclusively of attorneys whose primary area of practice is representing plaintiffs in the civil justice system.
