A catastrophic collision on January 25, 2025, has led to a significant legal battle as a Texas resident seeks justice for the damages and injuries sustained. Daniel Zelada Arancibia filed a complaint in Harris County District Court on March 13, 2025, against Traeman Edwards and Silver Eagle Distributors Houston, LLC. The case revolves around an alleged improper turn by Edwards while operating a commercial vehicle under the employment of Silver Eagle Distributors.

According to the petition, Arancibia was driving westbound on E Little York Rd when Edwards, in lane two, attempted an improper right turn onto Airline Dr., colliding with Arancibia's vehicle. The crash report lists Edwards at fault for making an incorrect lane change, resulting in severe injuries to Arancibia. The plaintiff accuses Edwards of negligence for failing to maintain proper lookout and control over his vehicle, thereby breaching his duty of care as a commercial driver. "Defendant Edwards made an improper turn from lane 2," states the complaint, which further alleges that these actions constitute negligence per se under Texas Transportation Code §§545.101 and 545.401.

The lawsuit extends beyond individual negligence to include accusations against Silver Eagle Distributors Houston, LLC., claiming negligent hiring and supervision of their employee. Arancibia asserts that Silver Eagle failed in its responsibility to properly train and oversee Edwards, directly contributing to the incident. "Defendant negligently hired Defendant Edwards," the petition argues, highlighting the company's alleged role in the accident through inadequate management practices.

Arancibia is seeking over $1 million in damages for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages, and diminished earning capacity. He requests that the court hold both defendants accountable for their roles in the accident through actual damages and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Arancibia are attorneys Tony G. Buzbee, Ryan S. Pigg, Mauricio Guevara, and Lionel Sims III from The Buzbee Law Firm based in Houston. The case is presided over by Judge Monica Jackson under Case ID 2025-17054 in Harris County's 295th District Court.
