Jury selection has begun in a case brought by Pennsylvania resident Sean Bailey, who sued Beaumont residents Rebecca and Randall James Heier alleging sexual abuse.
At the age of 19, Bailey filed suit against the Heiers in Jefferson County District Court, claiming that when he was a minor he lived near the defendants' home, where he was allegedly sexually abused.
According to Bailey's original petition, Randall James exposed himself to him and forced him to engage in inappropriate sexual conduct.
Court records show that on May 11, 2009, Randall James pleaded guilty to the offense of indecency with a child.
Court records also show that Bailey filed a motion to dismiss Rebecca Heir with prejudice, which was granted on Sept. 8, 2010.
The trial will focus on the allegations against Randall James.
Bailey is seeking damages for his mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.
Houston attorney Mickey Washington of Washington & Ernster represents him.
Randall James is represented by attorney Gary Dennison.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is presiding over the case.
