Paper raider sues Horizon Traders for deceptive practices

By David Yates

Area resident Jerry Little, who was busted red handed emptying the Southeast Texas Record newspaper bin three years ago, is suing Horizon Traders for deceptive trade practices.

As previously reported, the Record filed a criminal complaint against Little, a Reaud, Morgan & Quinn law firm employee, who was stealing papers because of the Record's coverage of a billion-dollar asbestos trial against DuPont.

Attorney Glen Morgan, a RMQ partner, was representing the plaintiffs at the time of the trial.

On Nov. 15 Little filed a complaint of his own, a civil suit against Horizon Traders.

According to his petition, Little has been buying goods from Horizon Traders for the past two years.

However, the suit fails to give any specifics on Horizon Traders' alleged "misleading acts," and simply accuses the company of violating the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

Doucette attorney Joseph C. Blanks, a former RMQ attorney, represents Little.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. B191-352
