Worker blames Echo for trailer tongue trip

A Tyler County man blames Echo Maintenance for his injuries that arose after he allegedly tripped over the tongue of a trailer while working.

Derald James Lange Jr. filed a lawsuit Feb. 3 in Jefferson County District Court against Echo Maintenance.

Lange claims he sustained a painful and disabling injury while working for Turner Industries at the Exxon Mobil plant in Jefferson County on Dec. 2 when he tripped over the unguarded tongue of a trailer owned by Echo.

In addition to his disabling injury, Lange incurred physical pain, anguish, physical disfigurement, physical impairment; lost his income and earning capacity; and incurred medical expenses, according to the complaint.

He blames Echo for negligently placing the trailer in an unsafe location, for allowing the trailer tongue to remain on the ground and for failing to barricade or rope off the trailer tongue, the suit states.

Blair A. Bisbey of Seale, Stover and Bisbey in Jasper will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: D185-854.
