An Orange County woman claims she experienced physical pain, suffering and mental anguish after a driver struck her vehicle.
Jessica Garza filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court against David Ashmore.
Garza claims she sustained injuries in an automobile accident caused by Ashmore in Beaumont on Oct. 17.
Because of the collision, Garza suffered physical impairment, incurred medical costs and property damage and lost wages, according to the complaint.
She blames Ashmore for causing the accident, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to look for traffic, failed to control his speed, failed to maintain a safe stopping distance, failed to stop to avoid collising with Garza's vehicle, rear-ended Garza's vehicle, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to maintain control of his vehicle and drove in a negligent and harmful manner.
In her complaint, Garza seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Sandee L. Hart of Orange will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
Jefferson County District Court case number: D186-434.
