Galveston Co. man sues over disability insurance

GALVESTON - A Galveston County man is seeking $350,000 from Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. after purchasing a disability policy.

Syed Quadeer alleges he has been unable to obtain employment after he purchased an insurance policy that provides disability benefits in the event that he becomes totally disabled.

He states he has suffered two heart attacks and has tremors in his hands as well as glaucoma and diabetes, all of which have permanently disabled him.

Quadeer's suit was filed April 26 in Galveston County Court No. 1.

The plaintiff accuses Lincoln National of deceptive trade practices, negligent representation and breaches of contract and fiduciary duty.

Quadeer claims to have suffered the loss of the "benefit of the bargain" and a high degree of mental pain and distress.

He seeks a jury trial and damages of at least $350,000.

Galveston attorney Charles R. Kaufmann is representing Quadeer.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County Court No. 1 Judge Mary Nell Crapitto.
