Suit filed against Chuck E Cheese over playground injury

A Harris County woman blames employees at Chuck E. Cheese for failing to adequately supervise her son as he played on a slide and fell from it, breaking his arm.

Pat Wilson, individually and on behalf of her minor son, King Hall, filed a lawsuit April 23 in Jefferson County District Court against CEC Entertainment, doing business as Chuck E. Cheese.

Wilson claims she took her son to the Chuck E. Cheese located at 4180 N. Dowlen Road on Dec. 2, 2008. Hall sustained serious injuries while in Chuck E. Cheese's play area after he fell from a slide, according to the complaint.

"It was clear there was not proper supervision from the employees in an overly crowded area," the suit states.

Because of his fall, Hall will experience a diminished earning capacity and suffered physical impairment, mental anguish, physical pain and disfigurement, the complaint says. His mother lost her parental consortium and incurred medical costs, she claims.

Wilson seeks an unspecified judgment, plus interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: D186-668.
