Beaumont woman blames back pain on collision

A Beaumont woman alleges she suffers from lower back pain after a driver ignored a traffic signal and slammed into her vehicle.

Valerie Linton filed a lawsuit April 23 in Jefferson County District Court against Leona Roberts and Charles J. Roberts Sr.

Linton claims she attempted to turn from Dowlen Road to College Street when driver Leona Roberts disregarded her traffic signal and struck Linton's vehicle. At the time of the collision, Leona Roberts drove a car insured by Charles J. Roberts Sr.

Because of the collision, in addition to her lower back pain, Linton incurred medical costs, lost earnings and her earning capacity, suffered physical impairment and physical pain, endured mental anguish and incurred property damages, according to the complaint.

She blames Leona Roberts for causing the collision, saying she failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to obey a traffic control device.

In her complaint, Linton seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: A186-667.
