Beaumont residents sue over collision with trash truck

Two Beaumont residents claim they sustained severe neck, shoulder and mid- and low-back pain after a trash truck driver rear-ended their vehicle.

Pamela and Karonja Taylor filed a lawsuit April 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Kenneth Dugas and Triangle Waste Solutions.

The Taylors claim they rode on Spur 93 and attempted to turn into a private drive when Dugas, who drove as part of his employment with Triangle Waste Solutions, failed to control his speed and slammed into the rear of their vehicle.

In addition to their injuries, the Taylors incurred medical costs; lost earnings and their earning capacity; suffered physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish; and incurred property damage, according to the complaint.

They blame Dugas for causing the collision, saying he failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and the Taylors.

The Taylors seek an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which they may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing them.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: E186-656.
