Left turn from wrong lane leads to suit

A Jefferson County woman has filed suit against the driver who attempted to make a left turn from the wrong lane, causing a collision.

Donna Suppa claims she drove a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 on May 24 when defendant Linda N. Adams, who drove a 2005 Nissan Murano, turned left from the wrong lane and struck Suppa's Ram.

Because of the collision, Suppa experienced physical pain, suffering and mental anguish; lost her earnings and her earning capacity; incurred medical costs; and endured physical impairment and disfigurement, according to the complaint filed June 3 in Jefferson County District Court.

Adams negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to maintain control of her vehicle, drove too fast, failed to apply her brakes, failed to exercise ordinary care, failed to turn her vehicle to avoid a collision and failed to keep the same distance as a person exercising ordinary care would have, the suit states.

In her complaint, Suppa is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs, attorney's fees and other relief the court deems just.

Dan Ducote Jr. of Moore Landrey in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: B187-034.
