GALVESTON - Claiming he was exposed to a flammable chemical while unloading a fuel truck, a Harris County man has filed a $1 million lawsuit against a number of companies and the vehicle's driver.
Cornelius Jefferson's suit against International Transportation Service Inc., Integrated Transportation Services Inc., International Transportation Services Inc. and an unnamed employee was filed June 1 in Galveston County District Court.
Jefferson claims he suffered first, second, and third degree burns after a hose that was being disconnected, dousing him with superheated glycerin.
Jefferson claims he sustained burns to his face, neck, chest, and left arm, adding that he was hospitalized off and on for three months.
"The plaintiff missed significant work due to his injuries," the suit says.
Jefferson seeks damages for pain and suffering and mental anguish.
He is represented by The Pinkerton Law Firm in Webster.
The case has been assigned to Galveston County 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox.
