Industrial supplier sued after wreck involving company driver

GALVESTON - A Harris County man has filed suit against Everett Industrial Supply Inc. and one of its drivers over a car wreck in East Houston more than a year ago.

Jimmy Deatherage's suit, filed June 21 in Galveston County District Court, says Joe Torres of Dickinson was driving for Everett along the East Freeway on Sept. 19, 2008, when he "suddenly and unexpectedly slammed into the plaintiff's vehicle from behind."

"The plaintiff suffered injuries to his person and damage to his property," the original petition says.

Deatherage seeks unspecified monetary damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, lost wages, and out of pocket expenses.

Attorney Fernando F. Valdes is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia is presiding over the case.
