Man claims severe, permanent injuries from collision

A man has filed suit against the driver he claims caused him to sustain severe and permanent injuries in a collision.

Frank Alfred Sanders claims he sustained the injuries during an accident in Beaumont on June 12 caused by defendant William Cleveland Smith, who was driving a truck for defendant Venture Transport Logistics.

Because of the accident, Sanders suffered physical pain, disability, mental anguish and physical impairment; lost earnings; incurred medical costs; and incurred property damages, according to the complaint filed July 12 in Jefferson County District Court.

Sanders doesn't specify how the accident occurred, but does say Smith failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to swerve to avoid a collision, failed to operate the vehicle in a prudent manner, failed to drive in obedience to traffic laws, drove inattentively and failed to control his speed.

In his complaint, Sanders is seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Sanders will be represented by Paul A. Higdon of Stern, Miller and Higdon in Bellaire.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 58th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: A187-254.
