Claiming he's owed overtime pay, Christopher Boone recently filed suit against Centerpoint Entergy.
Boone filed the suit July 20 in Jefferson County District in hope of recovering unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages and attorney's fees.
Boone, a technology specialist, received overtime pay from Centerpoint until April 1, 2007, court records show.
"After such time, Centerpoint changed Boone's status to 'exempt' in an effort to avoid overtime payments to Boone and other technicians," the suit states, adding that the company's actions violate federal law.
Boone argues that his "exempt" status is a "sham" and that he is entitled to time and a half for every hour he works beyond 40 hours a week, the suit states.
He is represented by Houston attorney Andreq Wright.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
