Women file suit over injuries to selves, children in wreck

Two Jefferson County women have filed a lawsuit against the driver they claim caused a collision which injured them and their children.

Kiana Traylor, individually and on behalf of her minor daughter, Darjana Bernard; and Khea Traylor, individually and on behalf of her minor children, Derrick Noel, Devin Noel and Kaitlyn Noel; claim they were riding in a vehicle Kiana Traylor was driving on Delaware Street on Oct. 19, 2008, when the incident occurred.

As Kiana Traylor slowed for traffic, defendant John Daigle failed to control his speed and slammed into the rear of her vehicle, according to the complaint filed Sept. 9 in Jefferson County District Court. The collision caused Kiana Traylor to strike the vehicle in front of her, the suit states.

Because of the collision the Traylors and their children incurred medical costs and lost their earning capacities, the complaint says. In addition, they claim they suffered physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement.

Kiana Traylor also incurred property damages and has suffered from headaches and pain in her neck and back while her daughter Darjana Bernard suffered severe headaches and anxiety, the suit states.

Khea Traylor suffers from headaches and pain in her neck and back, while Derrick, Kaitlyn and Devin Noel suffer from anxiety and soreness to their bodies, the complaint says.

The suit also names Walter Hendon, who carried insurance on the car driven by Daigle, as defendant.

The Traylors are seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

They will be represented by Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont.
