Beaumont woman sues over rear-end collision

A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Charly Wyatt claims she was stopped on Delaware Street in Beaumont on Oct. 7, 2008, waiting to make a left-hand turn when defendant Jonathan Moretsky, who drove a vehicle owned by defendant David Moretsky, failed to control his speed and slammed into the rear of Wyatt's vehicle.

Because of the accident, Wyatt incurred medical costs, lost earnings and his earning capacity and suffered physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement, according to the complaint filed Sept. 9 in Jefferson County District Court.

In addition, she incurred property damages and suffered severe injuries to her neck, shoulder, arm and chest, the suit states.

Jonathan Moretsky negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to maintain a clear distance between his vehicle and Wyatt's, the suit states.

In her complaint, Wyatt is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
