Company asks court to relieve debt

A Jefferson County corporation wants the court to relieve it from owing another company more than the $9,000 it paid for parts it received.

GS Global Supply filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Eastex Rubber and Gasket Co.

GS Global claims it ordered materials from Eastex for $9,900 on Jan. 24. Since then and after delivering the materials, however, Eastex attempted to raise the price of the items GS Global purchased, according to the complaint.

In addition to actual damages, GS Global seeks a judgment not to exceed $75,000, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and other relief the court deems just.

Chris Portner of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont will be representing it.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
