A Jefferson County woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to keep a proper lookout and struck her vehicle.
Tina W. Johnson claims she was driving near the 6000 block of Phelan Boulevard in Beaumont on Oct. 8, 2008, when defendant Anthony Billeaud Jr., who was turning right from the left lane, struck the left front of her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Johnson sustained severe injuries, physical pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Oct. 8 in Jefferson County District Court. In addition, Johnson lost wages, the suit states.
Beilleaud negligently drove too fast, failed to timely apply his brakes, drove recklessly and failed to keep his vehicle under control, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Johnson is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs, interest and other relief the court deems just.
Craig J. Schexnaider of Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
